Curiosity Wounded the Cat

Let the cat out of the house to roam around freely for awhile, I decided it was something worth doing before I send him to shower.

I headed out about half an hour later to search for him but he was hard to find, and eventually I heard him meowing under a car nearby, softly, I looked over and he struggled to get out.

I took him home but he kept meowing, I figured maybe he wanted to hang outside longer so I let him go, but he didn't go out, he just stayed in the house and started licking his paw. That's when I saw it.

He had apparently cut his paw! Ouch! I wonder how, but he was kinda in shock. I have to admit I'm worried, is it infectious? Should I do something about it?

I'll monitor his condition for now and if it gets worse tomorrow, I'll send him to the vet right away.

EDIT: Just found out, both his front paw pads got cut...ack!
