iOS7 - Beautiful Again

Just checked out the new iOS 7 video this morning. Wow! Johnny really knows how to impress! Android has moved on to flat design philosophy and so has Windows, and everyone's been waiting to see what iOS will do next with their outdated design that was due for an overhaul.

New features include:

- Control Center (Similar to Android's Quick Settings)
- A Better Notifications Center
- Multi Tasking Windows (Similar to Android's)
- New Cleaner Camera Interface
- New Photo Management
- New Photo Sharing
- Air Drop (Like Android Beam, but a whole lot better)
- Cleaner Safari
- New Keychain (Similar to Chrome's Autofill)
- iRadio
- New Improved Siri
- 3D gyroscopic wallpaper (Available on Android and Jailbroken iPhones)

It goes without saying though, Apple isn't without its fragmentation too, like Air Drop which to me is an awesome feature is only available on the iPhone 5.

Feature wise, I think iOS has caught up quite a bit! While it doesn't offer as much multitasking functions or deeper customisation as Android (setting default apps, storing of files beyond photos and videos, widgets etc) I think it offers just enough to take a basic user to the next level without being too complicated for them. Airdrop is one feature I wished Android had rather than Android Beam which sounds good on paper but is slow in practice (then again, perhaps AirDrop will be too?)

Aesthetic wise, woah, what an overhaul, flat design taken so far up to the next level even Android's Halo concept looks outdated!

I got to admit, iOS 7 packs a lot of new stock features that will entice Android users to go over, especially those who need not use that much customisation on their phones. Personally I'm tempted too, but will have to sit down and go through my list of frequent tasks to see if switching will suit me.

All in all though, what an awesome makeover. =D

Don't think it will pull that many droid users over. Screen size still wins.

Perhaps, though with the new features, I think it will also be good enough to keep those considering switching to Android to stay with iOS.
