Since running MR, I've noticed the hype gear people wear at the trails are different from the hype stuff you see on the roads. With Newton, New Balance, Asics dominating the roads, I hear a lot about Salomon when it comes to trail running.
I'm not one to really invest in hype gear but I can appreciate a product that has a lot of thought put into it to help aid a runner's performance, such as Newton's lugs for their race shoes, New Balance's range of racers to cater to all sorts of runners as well as their minimus series to help promote forefoot running etc.
Salomon's S Lab Sense Ultra is one such shoe which was made for the trails, one that promotes forefoot running and is great for the outdoors. With a 4mm drop, it's almost like natural running, and has enough cushion to protect your feet but still gives you the feel of the ground.
For S$267 to S$279 a pair though, they aren't cheap! Similar to the range of Newton racers. I quite like the design though just like Newtons, I don't see myself picking up a pair real soon.
Check out the video below which also shows their R&D with the S-Lab product line, from shoes to their compression wear which unlike 2XU, uses an outer circular mesh to help aid compression and I assume would hold better after multiple washes that regular fabric. If bored just forward to 1:46 of the video to see a slow mo demonstration of a thigh with and without compression aid...cool eh?
