HTC One - Something New?

HTC's finally released their new phone for 2013. It might be a bit confusing to some, the 2012 flagship models were called the HTC One X and One S, this 2013 model is just called the HTC One. And at first glance it looks sorta like the Blackberry Z10, only it's bigger, and at 1080p, 468ppi, it's probably the highest resolution high spec phone on the market to date.

Made out of a unibody-style aluminium block and a glass front, this thing looks gorgeous. Though it does come across a little iPhone 5-ish with its chamfered edging though I think it's biggest competitor in the Android market would be the plasticky rival, Galaxy S3.

I've said before that HTC's one of my favorite companies that do design pretty well, though their marketing is no where close to Apple's or Sammy's reach, which to me is probably the reason why it didn't sell as much phones as Samsung did with it's plasticky S3 and Note 2.

I think the phone looks great, high res screen, dual stereo front speakers (top and bottom), solid build, with one major flaw...a 4mp camera, although HTC is touting it's "Ultrapixel" tech which is essentially larger pixel sensors (2microns per pixel instead of 1.4microns) and allows 300% more light in than a standard 8pm camera. If the image really is as good as they say it is, maybe 4MP wouldn't be that big of a deal, though from past experience with HTC touting camera quality, it would be interesting to see if this can actually get the job done right.

HTC's phone designs are really great and I hope they'd do well in the market, it'll be kinda shitty to see them go leaving Sammy with little competition on the Android platform.
