Our governments do get things wrong at times, but they do get a lot of things right as well.

The 3 basic needs:

• Availability of food...check
• Availability of water...check
• Availability of shelter...questionable as to whether its affordable...but yes...check

And then there's:

• Availability of Healthcare...check
• Public Transport...check (though it may require some monitoring in light of 2030)
• Sanitation...check
• Education...check
• Jobs...with 2% unemployment rate...check
• Security, Law & Order...check
• Recreational Facilities...check

Compared that to some of the countries we look to as super-powers, I'd say we're doing ok. =)
