Upgrading in Progress
Both parents upgraded their phones yesterday, Dad an iPhone, Mum a Note 2.
The Note 2 is huge, slimmer than the original Note, but still, it's a mammoth compared to Nexus 4, let alone the iPhone 5.
So what do none techie parents do when they get new phones? They throw it to their techie son to set it up for them.
First time doing a cross platform migration, it went smoother than I had thought other than her contacts which were a bit hard to extract off the iPhone, apparently her iCloud isn't set up yet, and an in-phone export function is unavailable, and while there is an app that handles that, her App Store ID and security settings is so outdated, I think I spent more time dealing with that than setting her actual phone. =\
Seems Mum and Dad are both happy with their new devices for now, cross fingers I don't get bugged by in the next few weeks. =P

Could sync your mum's iphone to a temp user account on your mac to extract the address book or iCloud is easier.
I wasn't aware of that method so didn't try it.
The app I use is called "My Contacts Backup", it's actually a very user friendly (one click + email) if it weren't for my mum's app store security settings which were outdated, it kept asking her to fill up the security questions Which she conveniently avoided doing until today.
