It's been a long time coming, but when Apple finally switched to their new maps app on iOS and made driving navigation available in Singapore, it was only a matter of time before Google had to play catch up.
I never understood why navigation wasn't officially released a long time ago. I've been using an hacked unlocked version for quite some time now and it's proven to be very reliable to the point where I've only been misled once in my entire use of the app. I had given Open Maps (Which data Apple is supposedly heavily taking from for its maps service) a try via Mapquest before and was misguided on just my second trip with it ...thankfully to what I understand, Singapore's map on iOS is pretty well laid out apart from the lack of block numbers, so it isn't suffering from major hiccups other than that one where it categorized a Mosque as a hotel spot.
Offline maps have been around in Singapore for some time now, I didn't really use it cause since Google maps have been in vectors for the longest time, the entire portion of Singapore is just 11mb. It is worth noting though that the feature is still not available in Malaysia.
Overall it's finally good to ditch the hacked version of Maps and finally go official.
