Google just released an ad promoting the Nexus 7 Tablet and again, I think they've done a decent job hitting the soft spot of the consumer the way Apple has always done.
On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, their new tablet, again seems to stray far away from from the mass consumer market, and seems to have marketed themselves towards a super niche group of individuals...why spend so much R&D and tonnes of money on ads to cater to a small group who may or may not buy your product?
