Muscle Inflation - Bromance @ The Gym


I've proposed to my younger brother before that if he ever wanted to get back into training again, I'd join him whenever I could.

So since today he and my youngest brother were heading to the gym, and I was free, I decided to tag along.

Of course I being the least experienced in the gym, I had the help from both of them. I wouldn't consider my two brothers the type who are really into the "pumping" scene, they don't want that full buff look you get from some of the guys who work out, but they do have a slightly larger proportion than your average built person.

Since I wasn't really looking for anything in particular to work out, I was suggested back and chest since I ran a lot already. The book Al had recommended did suggest not doing two major muscle groups in a workout session but my brother was like "wah lau you come here so few times, today's more of an orientation, just want you to have a feel of what its like". Having them as trainers meant that I was in for a more intense training, but at the same time they could manage my form which both brothers stressed on.

Of course I say it was intense la but maybe it's just me being really weak at these kinda stuff.

Back & Shoulders: I did a total 6 sets of whatever the heck you call that thing in the image above, plus one warm up set.
  • Warm Up Set - 70 Pounds 12 Reps
  • 2 Sets - 80 Pounds 12 Reps
  • 2 Sets - 90 Pounds 12 Reps
  • 2 Sets - 100 Pounds 12 Reps
Chest: I did a lot less with these, using barbells to work on my chest. I think my arms were already tired after the first workout.
  • 1 Set - 17.5kg 12 Reps
  • 1 Set - 22kg 10 Reps
  • 1 Set - 27.5kg 5 Reps
The rest of the remaining time I had was spent doing 30 pushups since I was too tired for barbells. I also managed 2 sets of 1min30sec planks.

That was pretty much it, I'd probably say it was a weak session at the gym. I don't think I'd find myself here very often, but I'd probably try to make it a habit to come whenever I'm free and my brothers are going, I dun get to hang out with my brothers as often as the two of them hang out together so I guess it'll be good to make this sort of a quality time with them as well.

Hadn't had dinner before the workout and since there was a night market nearby, I "seized the day" and bought a box of Salmon Japanese Pizza...egg, cabbage, fish, flour.


Too much flour in fact. Ate half of it and threw the rest away.

Hopefully I can wake up early tomorrow for a run session at the park.

keep it up! my max for chest is only 20kg barbells with 3 sets x 5 reps so you are way ahead of me with whatever you've done today =P

See how man, they hit the gym on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, so I'm only available on Mon and Fri if I dun end up at work or meet Xinn to go out at night.

Still, better than nth i guess.
