Since Xinn wanted to hit the gym, I took her along and we had about an hour's session on the treadmill before heading up to the hotel cafe for breakfast!
So breakfast buffets aren't cheap and honestly not worth it unless it came with the package...but since we're in a nice hotel, might as well right? How often do you treat yourself to a mega-breakfast, and I don't mean McDonalds.
After our meal, we had a quick shower, I had my singlet hung outside the ledge to dry, and we made our way out to MBK once more.
There really wasn't much to do at this point, so we just ended up eating at the food court, Xinn wanting to complete her adventure with a bowl of Tom Yum, me wanting to chow on a bowl of Shark's Fin. Now I'm not that much against Shark's Fin as compared to babe, but the bowl served at MBK was terrible...if you're gonna make a dish that is frowned upon by many, at least make it taste good right? Don't waste it on half-baked cooking.
We were planning to buy gifts for the Tier 0 group but haven't had much luck looking for stuff (sorry guys), after wandering, we found ourselves along Siam Square, checking out the boutiques similar to the ones Sharon, Hn, and Babe went in KL. We didn't really walk in though...we had a more important trip to make...A&W!
We didn't eat, just ordered a glass of Rootbeer Float and sat opposite another couple who were also Singaporeans, they kept glancing over at us from time to time, I think it's cause we spoke very little and they were trying to figure out if we were indeed Singaporeans everytime we opened our mouths.
We didn't hang long though, after we were done with our glass, it was back to the hotel to pack our things.
Upon opening the window to get my singlet, I saw this...
Took me a good 5 minutes using an umbrella and another clothe hanger to pull the entire thing up without dropping it to the driveway below.
Xinn's colleague Jeng had apparently booked for us a cab free of charge back to the airport, so nice of her! We bid them farewell, and dosed off throughout our cab journey. No need for the uncle to make long detours since he was already paid so we were safe.
Once in the airport, our journey wasn't over...we walked around a bit and came across 2 more items we wanted to eat.
Sure...airport food isn't exactly "local" in a sense...but we had to make do right?
You'd think by now we'd be full, but once we were in the transit terminal, we went ahead and got ourselves Pizza from The Pizza Company...we've seen its signs everywhere around BKK and so we thought we'd give it a try. It's pan pizza, so think of it as their local version of Pizza Hut...very similar im my opinion.
I also wasn't complete until I had a taste of their Black Canyon coffee, which had more outlets than Starbucks in BKK. Good coffee, nothing more.
Bangkok's been fun for both of us, I'm really glad we made this trip. Xinn needed a longer break than Phuket, and I needed to get our of Singapore for a bit myself.
All in all a great trip to Thailand.
Now to see what's next for 2013!
