An annual visit with the family...To keep with last year's quarterly dinners as well, I had arranged dinner that evening at Orchid Live Seafood at Sembawang.
It was our first time there, and we didn't really want to go far but since Houxu had to book in that night at Sembawang Camp, we made reservations for 17.
I figured since it was outdoors, might as well bring the flash, only to realise that as their make shift shelter above is painted black, there wasn't much light to bounce off. My 30mm lens was out of commission no thanks to me so I settled for the 18-135mm kit.
I didn't manage to take much photos of the food though, was busy eating and my hands were dirty. The lobster porridge is their "killer item" and it was definitely a treat!!! It's fish-porridge style meaning the "porridge" is cooked rice later soaked in lobster broth with lobster halves.
It was great, but not something you'd pay $9/100gm for regularly...a really good fish porridge would cost you $5-6, it won't give you the same satisfaction from eating lobster porridge, but I'd say it's close and a whole lot cheaper.
I did manage to grab photos of the niece and nephews, they are such a joyful bunch!!! I also seldom get to see Dad's brother (Ah Pek) in such a cheerful mood very often but its good to see him smile around his grandchildren.
All in all, it was a great gathering among relatives...can't wait for the next one. =)
