Google acquires Motorola Mobility

Though Android will remain open, seems like Google is buying over the handphone company and running it as a business under the Google umbrella.

So far all the other companies seem to be taking it really well (See Quotes). I'm not a big Motorola fan to begin with so I'm hoping Google doesn't design it's new handsets towards that of the current Motorola Droids and Tablets (The Xoom is HEAVY!)

If things get bad, maybe it'll be time to switch to iPhone now that it no longer requires you to connect directly to iTunes.

See how see how.

google just want the motorola patent portfolio and motorola just cannot sustain their mobility arm with those huge loses.

should be a good thing for android with stricter hardware requirements.

I think its good if Google stepped in and pumped money into R&D. However, if the just buy it over, but leave the operations management in the hands of Motorola, then I don't think we'll see much cool tech any time soon. =(
