Dinner @ Grand Shanghai

Went there last week with my family and relatives. This would be the third time this year we've met up to have dinner together. When Grandpa was still around, weekend dinners at my aunt's place was a common tradition. Since then, we've seldom found time to hang out like we use to...so the only time we actually meet up is during Chinese New Year.

This year, in an attempt to break from the once-a-year routine, I suggested a dinner every 3-4 months with the family, and thus have been trying to keep to it for this year, setting my calendar to remind my cousins of the next Family dinner session. So far things are looking up!
Dinners are a great way to catch up with relatives, where the older folks talk about...er...things, and the younger kids just roam around playing and screaming like all kids do. It was also a time for the cousins to bug Xinwei and start asking the "So when are you two getting married?" question. Marriage has never been something I saw myself rushing into, neither is is something Xinn has in mind so soon so it wasn't something we really talked about much. haha.
Apart from the company, the food was great! The reason why Dad chose this place was cause he had a 50% voucher than he needed to exhaust, so what better way than to treat the relatives right? The last dinner at Por Kee was supposed to be a treat from us but with our cousins who ended up paying, we decided to make this round the treat from our side.
Grand Shanghai's a rather interesting place to me. The concept's really cool. You feel like you've entered a typical Shanghai restaurant from the 60-70s. To add to the vibe, there was even live entertainment going on at the front stage, where the band sang old tunes which my uncle was familiar with and even started humming to.
To top if off, we even had our own live entertainment, brought to us by Xayna, Raphael, and Xaylin! The kinds of songs kids learn these days in Kindergarten....adorable!

Dinner that night was certainly one to remember. Looks like the next one is up end October or early November. Can't wait till then!
