Dinner this evening with the Lam family and Wendy Cheong of Ion Orchard. It was just after the Braun Buffel event and a lot of them were feeling hungry, so since they had invited me over for lunch, I had nothing arranged that evening and joined them for dinner at Paradise Inn.
I have to admit it is my second time here only, and I have yet to try the colorful xiao long bao. I think it partially had to do with the fact that the people who've eaten it say it's not very spectacular, hence I didn't really give it a shot.
Today however, since it was ordered I figured I'd try.
I took the Foie Gras, Garlic, and Sze Chuan one to have a go. Personally? I'd say stick with the original. The taste is definitely there, but some how rather novel. XLB is suppose to be a simple dish after all, not to be made too complicated, this one felt very...how would you say in Chinese? Draw snake add leg.
Yes, this tasted very draw snake add leg indeed.
The other dishes? Yes they were pretty good, and the company and chit chat was rather fun as well.
Thanks again to the Lam family for dinner. =)
