I seriously love you guys but...
I don't spend close to a hundred dollars on branded cult T shirts cause I honestly think the materials they use are worse than your already-expensive $40 Nike T.
Whenever I don't get my parent's car to use, I take the bus, or a train, and keep my monthly cab fare below $50. Taking a cab home because it's the only way I'll have time to watch a DVD I bought is not exactly my idea of proper money management.
I download because I don't have the kind of spending power to purchase DVDs and Online shows as and when I like.
I think its very hypocritical to say "original is the best" and then go off and buy pirated DVDs.
I do not impulse buy when it comes to anything above $50. I made that mistake once with a $130 Nike Court Force and regretted it. Now I do my research, read up on things, saved up and paid my dad back the $300 top-up I owed him after I bought my 450D.
I do eat and spend money on good food but so do you. In fact, I have only tried a slice of wagyu, I have never had one entire steak to myself before.
I got my mac by saving up during NS to pay for it. My Camera twas bought through work done at the Spinworkx store and my personal savings.
My jogging earphones aren't cheap, but their definitely not that expensive either.
I don't own a car because I can't afford one.
The last yo-yo I bought was a Trainwreck 2.0 I saved up, I would love to get more than just that yo-yo, M1s are nice, Peaks are nice, Hectics are nice, PGMs are nice. But I don't have the cash to buy them.
Looking around my room, the things above $50 that were purchased by my parents include:
- Ikea Display Case for my yo-yos (2005)
- Bed Frame and Mattress (2005)
- G2000 Suit (2007)
- 22inch ViewSonice monitor (2008)
- Computer Table (2008)
- Vans Chukkas (2009)
- Spectacles (2009)
Things above $50 that were purchased either through allowance savings or earnings include:
- 2x 320gb Hard Drives (2002) - Savings
- RC Cars and Parts (2003-2007) - Earnings
- My current PC Desktop (2004) - Earnings
- Osim iSqueeze (2005) - Earnings
- Creative Gigaworks T20 Speakers (2006) - Earnings
- Shure E4Cs (2005) - Earnings
- Grado SR80 Headphones (2005) - Earnings
- Macbook Pro (2006) - Earnings
- Creative Xmod (2007) - Earnings
- Sony HDR Video Camera (2007) - Earnings + Savings
- Hush Puppies Shoes (2007) - Earnings
- Nike Court Force (2007) - Earnings
- Bijou Earphones (2008) - Savings
- Nike P-Rods (2008) - Savings
- Trainwreck 2.0 (2009) - Savings
- Canon Eos 450D (2009) - Savings
I may own a few good things, but just like you guys, I got them myself.
Yet, because my parents worked hard, made a few good decisions in life, and earn a good living, I have been labelled RMS.
It's like teasing a Black kid for being Black.
What do you want him to do? Bleach his skin white?
I don't judge the kinda lifestyle you guys live, I don't criticize the kinda stuff you guys spend on, it's your money, you can do whatever you want with it, I don't care, its your choice, you have control over how much you spend.
Do I have any control over how much my parents make a month?
Jokes aside, I know it's just pure poking fun and stuff, I have honestly never felt it to be annoying except for today where it struck a cord for some reason.
Maybe cause it's 5:20 in the morning and I should be asleep and not typing on my keyboard.
Sorry if this is offensive, I didn't wanna say it out just now cause I'm terrible at confrontations and tend to mess it up real bad.
It's probably just one of those days. You guys are still great and I'll totally understand if you guys are shit pissed about this.
Takecare though and Good(morning)night.
