I'm about to go into a rant.
Here I sit in the Spinworkx shop, looking outside to see kids playing right outside the store.
Only last week was there a complaint made against the shop for the kids hanging outside the store with their yo-yos being a danger to children under 5 years of age.
The complaint went up to Colin and they even came down to give verbal warning about the matter.
Since Colin wasn't around, I had to handle the problem and even arranged to meet the person on Friday to talk about the matter.
After spending quite a while convincing her that the outside zone would be safe and much better than the option she gave us(which was a smaller area that was extremely cram at the MPG area), we came to an agreement that the players could hang outside at the front of the kids zone instead of playing inside it where parents normally sat to wait for their kids and vice versa.
Today, I had given verbal notice to a couple of people, and for some people, I gave them the notice 2-3 times. And yet, as I look out I see the same scene as last week, kids playing in the section that they were not suppose to play in.
Is it fair for Spinworkx to really be responsible for these kids? Everytime a complain comes, Spinworkx gets it. The shop has no real duty of care towards the players who are customers, but whenever a complain comes in, we find ways and means to explain to Suntec management that the players deserve a place to be able to enjoy themselves as well.
They don't need to help the players, but they do.
And still, after all that effort, it seems, looking at today, that the effort went down the fucking drain.
How, in that case, can we keep covering up for them when a complain comes in? I guss if we come to a compromise and follow the agreements made, then at least we showed that we've made an effort.
But when we don't even abide by the first agreement made, how do we in future:
- Make other agreements?
- Plan events?
- Help the players find better locations?
All these take good rep, and currently in my opinion, the store's getting more bad rep than it should deserve.
So....is it fair? Is Spinworkx being too nice that it's being stepped over? In the process of setting up the shop and finding a place for the kids to play, it has managed to pissed tenants off and create bad rep with the management of Suntec City.
How to not let other tenants get pissed off when we don't even follow the rules we have established? I don't blame the tenants for complaining, if I had an agreement with someone and they dun follow the rules, naturally I'd be pissed too. In that situation, do we then still have the power to reason with them?
The best part is, I have no way of answering to them when just YESTERDAY I agreed with the management team that the kids would play at the entrance area instead. How am I gonna answer to them if in the following week, they send in another complain? Spinworkx will be at fault then, cause we didn't follow the agreement. But does Spinworkx deserve to be at fault?
You know how when u see a situation and u try to make it good for both parties, but you are unable to, and the reason why its so hard is because YOUR side is not cooperating?
.........sigh.

the teacher next door to spinworkx came to me to complain abt the yoyo playing when i was in the shop the other day.
I was like...er woman ur kids can always stay in ur shop instead of running INTO the yoyo players ....She insisted on speaking with Colin but I just rolled my eyes and walked away.
Chill!!! they're all idiots.
Actually I don't mind they talk about it, I mean from what I know their all ok people there's nothing to be pissed about. but when we come to an agreement, I think its fair to say both sides abide by the deal loh, but last saturday I think we sorta broke the agreement, hopefully next week it'll be better bah. Last thing I want is another problem for Spinworkx, and then we're back to square 1, finding a place for the players to play again. sigh
andrew, i've posted this on the SY blog, hope it helps...
