Old friends, Good food, New Layout =)

How do you guys like the new lay out? I was toying away at it on Saturday and figured it was about time to change it. I put up a poll regarding the looks, but decided to take it down cause for some reason my house computer couldn't see it while my mac could, I don't like dealing with inconsistencies so I'm taking it off altogether.

It seems that for the past few posts during Summer School, I've been seriously lacking a lot of things to talk about...it's really difficult when you got ur mind too focused on other things rather than your blog know?

But this week's been a pretty darn good week, considering that it's the first week of 3rd summer school term and I've only got one subject to focus on.

The thing about squeezing too much brain juice into a certain subject, you find yourself too worn out to bother about the newer subs that come along, hence, I've been seriously taking my time with Geology...but I guess so far it's manageable, tomorrow's the first exam, only then will we know how things are going for me =)

TUESDAY

I had dinner with Eugene and Cecilia Webb from Rebel 1 and 4, it's been a slow day and we figured some dinner would prolly be therapeutic. Not that sakae sushi was an excellent place to go for food kicks, but we were lazy to travel, and so settle at the one down at Bugis for a quick meal.
Normally when I go to a place like Sakae or Ichiban Boshi, I tend to order meals that are more soup base, but the thing is I've probably been doing that routinely for the past...er....2 yrs? So I figured I'd give something else a try, and went for this pretty good bento set instead, I have to admit I'm missing out on a lot of things by playing it safe with my meals all this while, though SAkae isn't something to brag about, I think it was pretty decent to have something else other than sukiyaki for a change =)
Another item I didn't expect myself to be eating at a japanese restaurant was this italian-ish style dish that Eugene ordered, it's not really expensive salmon, so it wasn't THE BEST, but the sauce was pretty good, decent enough for a reasonable price I think...$7.90 at a japanese restaurant for a dish like that? hm......fine by me, just not ALL the time =)

THURSDAY

I doubt I've ever really blogged about my interest in Street Luging back in 2001 have I? It was a really long time ago, for those of you who think I'm talking about that little downhill kart ride you get to sit on over at Sentosa, that's not it.

Well, not really.
That's me(yes, yes, it is I swear) and Furlong when I was up in KL to ride with them back in 2001
Unlike those little karts you get at Sentosa, a nice slope like the ones in KL can get you up to speeds of 70km/h or more if you got the right angle and such.

Well anyway the reason why I'm telling you this is cause a good friend of mine called Bob Swartz came down on Thursday, and Stephen(one of the older luge buddies of mine) and I managed to meet up with him for dinner.
I've learned 2 things from this last photo, and that is
1. It's blurry, next time, take multiple shots.
2. I need to look some weight, those cheeks are getting awfully round.
I've sorta known Bob for about 7 years now since 2008 where I first knew that he came to Singapore annually due to his job, and that he was a street luge racer back home as well.

Not only that though, he's the first person to strap a Jet(yes Jet, not Rocket, JET), to his luge and now does this from time to time at special events =)
I've got tonnes of videos thanks to bob which he sourced out form Youtube, so I'm gonna put them all here

TV Segment featuring Bob Swartz and his Jet Luge

Downhill Skateboarding featuring one of my Favorite downhill racers Chris Chaput

Team Hardcore Pavement Malaysia 2001

I've got one more video, called Luge Skool, but apparently it's been removed from being embedded, so you'll have to go HERE to watch it...highly recommended =)

FRIDAY

I managed to catch up with Bob for lunch, so we headed down to Sofra, that turkish restaurant I went to about 8 months or so back when I first started school in UNLV
I seriously recommend ppl to go and try this place out, it's over at the Shaw Tower opposite Suntec city, it's price range isn't all that bad, and the food is really good, very meaty though, so for those who prefer a good balance of vegetables, I guess you might wanna look somewhere else =)

So Bob's gone but hopefully he'll be back this Friday and we could get Stephen and probably Jerome, another fellow junior who luged with us back in 2001 to go out for drinks or sth.

SATURDAY

Yes, they've finally done it, they've managed to make school even more crappy than it already is.

"HOW?" you may ask, by putting lessons on Saturday as well!

To make it worse, it was a full day lab class, from 9am to 4:30pm!

ACK!

At least some of us found time to do other stuff then just study, like Richmond and gang who did a lil recycling while posing for silhouette shots...lol
I managed to find time to have lunch with Kelly, Jenny, Sophie and Tatz. We haven't manage to have a decent meal together since summer school, blame the lesson schedules that split the class up...booo
Crystal Jade now has their own Hong Kong cafe as well, this brand name just keeps getting bigger and bigger. But I guess the food was pretty good, I personally found the duck breast fried rice to be a real kicker, it may look really plain in the photo, but it tastes pretty good, worth the try =)

You know what isn't worth trying?
K well Godiva chocolates are worth trying if their given to u, but even this one that came packaged in a tin box didn't taste anywhere as exclusive as compared to a packet of typical M&Ms...rather disappointing to have to pay so much for lil brown balls that don't give you that "life changing experience" ommpf you get from a really good belgium chocolate. Soory Godiva. =(

I was at the yo yo shop later after school to hang around when one of the guys from the Rubics cube club walked in with this.
Believe it or not, that's a 7 cube puzzle, it's not called rubik(cause thats patented...booo), but it's the same concept, only....a lot harder. =) I jsut had to take a photo of it, it was bulging out on all corners...no that's not fisheye lens! it's really bulging out...haha. =)
We got hungry and uncreative, so decided to grab pizza and stay in the store and wait instead of walk down stairs to munch.

This time round though, the pizza was a bit disappointing, rather soggy, could've been better, what happened? =(

Guess you can't always expect piping hot stuff to be boxed up with all that moisture, and come to ur door step all crispy and crunchy every time right?

Well it's late, I got an exam come Monday.

You guys wish me luck, enjoy ur week ahead.

Cheers ppl =)

Andrew
