Heck, I've run out of topics, so I'll go straight to the lil short postings
An un-Hip DinerSo Monday, I headed out with Eugene for lunch and we stopped over at this place called the Hip Diner cafe. From the looks of it, it seemed pretty ok so we decided to give it a shot.

Now when u order cheese fondue, u're basically gonna get, well...cheese.
Which is fairly basic, so no complains there....what I didn't like, however, was their main course, which was pretty....er....bad?

Because it was a place that didnt sell pork or lard, they had to find alternatives, which weren't very good, the turkey bacon was....plain, saltless. the fish was ur typical frozen fillets u get at Giant supermarket, the egg was definitely cooked and left untouched for at least an hour.
For the price u pay (which was around $20 per person with soup), I'd say u'll get better stuff at Mcdonalds...seriously.
More Turk-FoodSo after having Turk with Bob last week, I went there again, this time with Chin Ya, Danny, Eugene, Rei and Sherwin.
I still can't get enough of that place, the food's great, the price is reasonable, the ambiance is pretty far out, and it's near school!

lol, side track a bit, I'm starting to really dislike the k850, maybe i'm being too spoilt by the canon ixus which produces much better picture...lol.
Food Fare....missed!So i was out the other day at Bugis when I came across this

apparently I've been so busy with summer school I forgot to stop and remember that the Singapore Food Festival was in motion, and I hadn't had the chance to enjoy any of the food fares around so far, this one was so crowded i also gave it a miss...

Look at all that....makes me wish i was down there working in the fare as well...haha...yes, work! It would have been a fun experience =)
Dim Sum SessionLike I mentioned before, Summer school is crap, crap, crap. Theres nothing else but CRAP, and the only time I enjoy saturday classes is when I go out and eat with my friends, and that's exactly what we did, a bunch of us headed to Ah Yat for dim sum which was at 50% off, pretty well priced, no bamboo clams this time round though...

I'm beginning to realise that I'm the only guy in most of the luncheons or dinners we have, I think it's really because we don't have much guys in class, and most of them would be gone in a split second right after sch to bother staying back....maybe next time we should drag more ppl along or sth....hm.

I think Ah Yar's seafood, when u go with a bunch of ppl, is really worth your money, cause there's variety, and the price is reasonable....I'd gladly go there again some other day.
Martini Innercity Flair CompetitionSo I got a msg on youtube the other day from Singapore's top bartender Mamat Suali that there was gonna be a competition going down at Thumper on Saturday evening and invited me down to check it out, I wasn't sure whether i had the time, but i went anyway and it was worth it!

I met up with the flairtenders from China ONE who were there to support and compete as well

The competition was really good, unlike the Bacardi Martini GP which was a working flair, this one was an exhibition flair, so it was no-holds bar, and Mamat (guy in the middle of last photo) went home 1st place, great job!
Newly Renovated Old FavouriteFor those of you who have been to the Parkroyal Plaza at Kitchener road, you'd know that their famous for their teochew porridge.

Anyway they've recently renovated and now have a cafe that offers a wider spread of food as well as their teochew porridge spread =D

It was pretty dark, so I didnt take many snaps of the food, but overall I think it was great, although I felt that the teochew porridge standard had dropped. There wasn't anymore fishcake, luncheon meat, fish which they had before that made the meal pretty much authentic, now it was more "upclass", which nolonger felt very original already, oh wells....but I guess it was still overall pretty ok.
K man it's lateI'm gonna hit the hay soon, I still got classes tmr. You guys have a great week, I'm off
Takecare, cheers!
Andrew
