Another Decent Week

Uh huh.

So this week's went pretty well infact, other than the shock I had after completing my month's expenditure chart.

I spent over....er.....1k? In one month....ouch!!!!

Time to cut back Andrew....Guess the good thing about having an expenditure chart is that it kinda shows u where ur $$$ goes..and 1/4 of it went to food last month, plus another huge amount went to me getting that RC car kit....so yeah, hopefully this month wouldn't be that bad.

HOPEFULLY.

Anyways enuff of the boring stuff.

I had dinner with Cheng and CK last wednesday at some Ramen Shop at Boat Quay...really interesting, I never knew there were shops that sold really good food at that corner location we were at.

The tiny restaurant's called Baikohken and it's a Japanese franchise...well, this is it's first store in Singapore anyways...in fact, I think it's the first store outside of Japan.

Cheng was really hungry, thus the FACE, CK was just being his usual quiet self, looking around the outlet for anything to amuse himself.

Their menu, however, isn't very impressive, but it's not that variety that they attract their customers with, it's their really good noodles, and BOY ARE THEY GOOD!!! The two of them got theirs with Char Siew n Salt, and the other with Soy Sauce, thus the darker color.

I got mine with Miso soup and topped it up with an egg....small size, big eater eh?

I have to admit this has gotta stop, 5KG heavier since I entered the army...sigh.

The meal was delicious, the pork was soft and tender, the soup was very very tasty, and the noodles were well done. Each table had a jug of Ice Cold tea instead of water, which complimented the meal very well, plus the different bottles of condiments meant that u can add different spices or sauces to it IF you really feel the noodles need more taste.

I really gotta cut down man...5KG gained since I entered NS, and no I didn't grow any taller(sigh) so that 5KG's definitely going elsewhere...=(

Anyway check out Baikohken's website, it's probably not gonna do u any good since the whole page's in Japanese, but hey, pictures will count don't they? =)

So after dinner we had dessert at Cineleisure, Brownies...ice cream...the works.

Like I said...5 KG...need to work on that....hm...

The brownie sucked to the core though.

What sort of brownies do you guys like? I like the fudge ones, u know, soft and chewy or creamy...this one was dry...like...DRY dry...it was so bad even the ice cream couldn't save it....one restaurant out of my "to-go" list.

K...where was I?

Oh...yeah, Friday night, the guys and I went over to Geylang Lorong 7 to have dinner with Ying Hao, one of the clerks from the Log Book Room who ORD just afew days back. It was his treat...well, his mum's actually, since his parents owned a stall over there that served really good food.

Ying Hao's the guy with his hands stretched all out to reach for the steamed fish...which, by the way, tastes absolutely FABULOUS!!!! *drool*...thinking about it makes me hungry AGAIN.

And OH, look, there's Cheng again, and that plate of brown pile of rubble(forgive me, Camera can't make out much detail) on the plate in front of him is Pai Gu Wang...or, in direct English, Pork Ribs King...hahaha I love a good translation. =)

Anyway that was one of the best pork rib dishes I've ever tried!! Most of the time at other stall you'd get soft chewy cuts of pork ribs or just pork loins, which still taste great, but these ones were coated with some sort of flour, fried till they were crispy, and dowsed with a really great sauce. Biting into it, u could still feel the "sizzle" as though it's still cooking inside...YUM!!!!

After dinner, 7 of us went over to Great World City to catch the 1:05am show for Transformers.

Did I mentioned I am a Transformer fan?? I did? yeah I did!!!

Loved the show as a kid, and being able to watch them in real like just makes it alot better!!!

So the robots don't look all the same like the older versions...SO WHAT??? Do you really want Megatron(big badguy boss) to turn into a gun like he was supposed to? If so, he'd be one hellava gun, too big for anyone to carry might I add.

The storyline is cheesy, but at least it's based on the storyline of the original cartoon, which too, is very cheesy.

But hey, simple concept of Good vs Evil...still fun to watch.

I read their Dreamworks has signed for 2 more sequels, Michael Bay and the two writers aren't commiting to it yet, and they SHOULDN'T, unless their really sure they can pull it off. Personally I'm satisfied with it being just one film. =)

Right. So I got a new toy recently(me spending more money again), one which I got Esmail to help me build.

These are portable Amplifiers.

"For what??" you ask? Their basically for enhancing your portable music...portable...lol, their still quite a pain to carry if you ask me. I basically like the sound coming out of my Zen, the Shures match really well with them so I'm pretty ok with it I guess. The amp's for keeps though, incase there comes a day where I do need it. =)

The sound coming from this one's a big more spaced out, giving it a slightly wider soundstage than my normal output...it sounds abit like wearing my grados...but still there's this slight difference in the sound which I can't get used to...maybe it'll sync better with my Grados or Mylars.

SUNDAY.

I went down to Takashimaya...what for?

What else?? MORE FOOD!

At the Singapore Food Festival that is...and like last year, their having a Chilli Crab festival over at Taka, so I decided to pop by to take a look.

Quite a number of stores selling Chilli Crab were there, even Palm Beach, located at One Fullerton, along the stretch where I worked at Black Angus, had it's stall there as well...Palm Beach, by the way, sells some of the largest chilli crabs I have ever seen!!! And they taste good too!!! I had a Cheese Baked Crab Claw once compliments from the restaurant when the boss came over to Black Angus to let us sample it for comments...my thoughts??? DELICIOUS!!!

I didn't buy any chilli crabs today...remember, expenses...plus I didn't wanna get my clothes dirty with all that tasty red chilli sauce.

Instead I tried two interesting dishes...a Satay Wrap, which is a simple idea that tastes REALLY GOOD, and a Chilli Crab Laksa, which has equally good taste to match.

The satay wrap is basically a tortilla wrap stuffed with Chicken Satay, Cucumber, Onions and Peanut sauce. See? simple yeah? But it tastes so good! Plus the wrap means you don't get your hands dirty easily...hm...maybe next time I'll buy wraps for BBQs and do the same thing.

The chilly crab laksa on the other hand, tasted great too, pretty much like Katong Laksa, only without the hum. The gravy was thick, just the way I like it, and the noodles weren't too soggy either. They shouldn't call it Chilli Crab though, cause honestly it had nothing to do with that local dish we all loved...it's still, at the end of the day, really good laksa with tiny crab claws...lol. Still, I love it...and for $5, it was worth my money...well..k la...one of those "try it once in a while" kinda things.

Haha......a certain friend of mine mentioned that my blog is full of posts about food....I admit that's entirely true, but hey, what foody-freak wouldn't yap about food on his blog all day? lol =)

Wow I can't stay long, the family's having dinner with our youngest brother today, it's his birthday tomorrow by the way, so we're all going out for dinner, but after all that munching at Taka, I'm not sure if I can chow down anything later.

Sigh, maybe I'll just have water.

Anyway cheers ppl, have a great week ahead, Ciao!

Andrew
