Responsible Journalism (Slight Rant)

I'm not really sure where to write this but I figured since I do pen my thoughts on the blog, I might as well rant it here.

I came across an article on Facebook that was from an alternative Singapore media website about two students caught on camera performing an indecent act in a public area. Apparently the guy had tricked the girl into doing so.

In the image, the girl had covered her face, but then in the article, the author had included a profile pic of the person. Not only that, the Facebook link is now flooded with comments that included the names of the two kids, the phone numbers, and even the schools they are from.

While I understand the need for alternative media, I think there has to be some kind of responsibility with some of these articles, what if you were the girl's parents or friend, wouldn't you feel sorry for her?

I had initially wanted to add my two cents to the Facebook comments section but then it dawned on me that it'll only mean my friends will be able to see on their news feed that I have commented on something, and then have access to the news link, further spreading the article.

Decided to drop them an email instead.
