Catching the World Cup Finals - Germany vs Argentina

I was intending to sleep in and go to work as usual last night but then after a bit of thought, I packed my stuff and headed down to SAFRA Yishun to join some of the runners to watch the final match between Germany and Argentina.

Soccer wasn't really my thing, but I just had to figure out whether Andy's Dad would cash in on his winnings with the final match.

Needless to say, for once I actually understand why people enjoy soccer, the match was super intense, with the first half seeing Germany hold back, then going a lot harder in the second half. When Argentina scored the first goal, half the viewers in the building stood up, cheered and dance, only to later be told that the goal was done offside, which resulted in the Germany supporters standing up to cheer immediately. The match even went on into extra time where Germany finally scored the winning goal.

Though I was rooting to Germany, I got to admit Argentina seemed like the more aggressive team in both the offense and defense. I really pity Messi's free kick at the end, that was a total fluke, ouch.

Overall, a good game, glad I stayed up for now.

Now let me go inject myself with coffee....
