Today's turn out was probably one of the largest I've seen at NRC! I think it had to do with free socks. Oh and yes there was a time trial...but perhaps it was the free socks. mmmmmm....socks.....
Anyway though I'm not much of a competition runner, I am somewhat competitive when the opportunity rises. Even though it wasn't a race, the fact that many turned up for a time trial meant that people were ready to push themselves, which will subconsciously cause me to push myself as well.
The time trial was simple and well organized. My only comment would have probably been that it'd be nice to have the drink station at the trial instead of being at the shop since people were pushing themselves...but as said already, for a no frills trial, the fact that you get free socks and prizes for the top 5, where else can you find something as good as this? =)
I am really happy with my results, 9th place! I started out queasy cause prior to the run, I had been sitting at Starbucks enjoying a Venti Latte, and didn't go to the toiler before the run, so by the end of the race, I almost puked. I don't think I can go any faster even if I had emptied out though...cause I was sweating so much by the time I reached the finishing line, I no longer had the sensation to rush to the loo, in fact I was super dehydrated!
Fun run all in all, would still prefer to go back to regular runs again though...haha =P
