You'd think with an 8MP camera standard in the current smartphone market, the next time would be...12? 16?
But at 41MP, Nokia just blew the resolution market with a smartphone that has a higher megapixel count than a Canon 1DX!!!
Image off Slashgear.
It's not slim jim though, the camera portion is pretty bulky, probably due to the sensor it needs to pack into the phone to allow that high a resolution.
Of course, pixels aren't everything without quality, someone found image samples of the supposed phone, although there's nothing high resolution out there at the moment to really zoom in and take a close look at.
There's even a video sample online claiming to be taken from the PureView.
Looks like a phone with a really great camera!!!
But do you really want to use Symbian OS?
EDIT: Just to add, the 41 Megapixels is when you're snapping at full res, but for high quality snaps, it's the PureView mode, which maxes out at 8mp that's where the "magic" is. Using the full 41MP image, Nokia's processor downscales the images to a high quality 3, 5, or 8MP image that's super sharp, super clear, super crisp.
You can check out the video explanation from Engadget that demos the camera, briefly explains the technology, and also shows the camera video zoom capabilities (4x zoom at 1080P without affecting the resolution)
