Dennis didn't get the recognition during his death cos what he created was targeted at a small community (the programmers). It is sad but he definitely not alone in that respect. That said, I think it really reflects Jobs' accomplishment in bridging the general public to tech.

Steve definitely deserves the credit for promoting better tech to the masses.
That said, it's quite sad that Dennis didn't get at least some of the recognition he deserves too.
