Apple After Steve

Seems like Tim Cook's settling in really nicely and is being more proactive in keeping in touch with his co-workers than Steve did (Article here).

The one thing I am pleased to find out is that Apple may start doing CSR again, something Steve has never done before, here's one quote:

"And when he became Apple's CEO he stopped all of its philanthropic programs. He said, "wait until we are profitable". Now Apple is profitable, and sitting on $40 billion in cash, and still no corporate philanthropy. I actually think Jobs is probably the most charitable guy on the planet. Rather than focus on which mosquitoes to kill in Africa (Bill Gates is already focusing on that), Jobs has put his energy into massively improving quality of life with all of his inventions."

I disagree with the last sentence though because by that definition, a lot of tech companies that do research in medicine, healthcare, etc are doing "charitable work" too...yet they can put aside money for a CSR programme.

That aside though, with so much wealth now in Apple's possession, it'd be exciting to see what kind of charitable work it can champion to the masses. =)
