PAP
Always a favorite, whether you like him or not, you can't deny his rationale has been well thought out whether or not you agree with it.(Start at 7:40min for the first video and skip the heart strings front portion)
I don't really agree with his first point about people's confidence resulting in them investing in our flats despite the high prices...I think it's more like there's no where else to go on this island that you can find anything cheaper anyway. I can't say I fully understand his 2nd point either, but his third point is true.
Even with the less popular ministers, some of their comments are pretty good too, although I can see their more motivational than addressing problems like Vivian does.
SDP
And then there's the opposition. Wow...er...I'm rather...clueless as to what they're trying to get across. This isn't stand up comedy, it's a rally. I haven't exactly heard anything concrete or any form of addressing of matters. So what if western democracies respect us? How does that help our people? How will an energized society bring the share prices up?
All I've learnt from their rally is

And then the rest of the rallies continues to just run the current government down but doesn't address much issues. At least Michelle seemed to put effort to address a few concerns which impressed me.
So we have about 1/3 of our workforce driven by foreign workers, this includes a majority of construction workers, food court workers, hotel staff, toilet cleaners, etc Are we really unhappy with them taking these jobs and do we really want to work in these areas when we consider ourselves "talented people"?

From the videos though I only learnt the following
1. The PAP isn't doing as good a job as we'd want them to do.
2. The opposition party does not like the government.
3. The opposition party is really good at fault finding.
3. The opposition party does not have a clear solution to the problems they are unhappy about either.

Singaporean's number one pastime mah, whine and complain.
Ya boy. Michelle managed to address a few points but I think she seemed credible because the other two guys I've watched was rather nonsense.
lol I think for my area the choice rather clear for me.
The oppositions are really just conveying what the average people are feeling. Obviously, everyone knows that these people won't be able to churn out policies. The only purpose of voting them in is to challenge the policies. The day-to-day mundane matters at the town councils is not impt, cos anyone with a decent brain can run that.
That said, PAP is good la. Otherwise I won't have a change to be PR and get a decent job here! =P
I think unfortunately a lot of people think voting for the opposition will solve the problem, which as you've mentioned, isn't the case.
I was hoping there'd be more parties contesting in the area for me to choose from, but between the two, I think my choice is pretty much a slam dunk
They are voting for their voice to be heard in Parliament that's all. After all, the best result for the opposition would be 10-12 seats which will see the ruling party holding majority of seats.
They should make it a 2-3 party system la, cos some of the opp is really nonsense! haha
lol. ya man, Some of the rallies I've watched is just....erm.....gosh!
There's a reason why people are now calling NSP - Nicole Seah Party!
Seems to me the opposition's agenda is to take over PAP leh.
Lol, it's every opposition's agenda, which I think is reaching the hearts of many but not addressing much of the concerns they have.
Sad man.
HN and my GRC more exciting! :D SDP all uncles coffee shop talk lo.
