Today when the bunch of us took his cab to the indoor stadium to catch wwdl, we ran into a jam and the uncle was puzzled why everyone was heading towards the stadium, so we told him about the show. he then reached over to his iphone and sends out a message about stadium road being packed.
He then receives a voice message telling him that there's a show going on, suddenly another driver voice messages that he's caught in the same jam!
We were quite amused with the uncle and his app, turns out palringo is some what like a walkie talkie version of whatsapp!
The uncle has a forum for his taxi buddies and even a palringo group with a few taxi drivers and customers in it, where taxi drivers send each other voice messages to inform other drivers of available taxi stands, and where customers send voice messages to see if any taxi drivers are near the area to get picked up!
The group the uncle runs has about 25 taxi uncles, palringo has about 200 taxi uncles using its free services!
I turned on the app and joined his group taxiuncle, and before you know it, you hear voice announcements being sent out, some to tell fellow drivers where there are lots of customers, others, as it was late, start sending messages to wish fellow taxi uncles to drive safe and good night, lol!
That aside, this is a really cool app! Shall look into its further applications which might be of use in future.
