The Cacat Helmet

Been wanting to cycle on the road for quite some time now but never really had the guts to do so, mainly cause I didn't have a helmet, and when you're a guy on the road not dressed in cycling wear and not wearing a helmet, you're not exercising, you're a "punk".

Hence to steer away from that mentality some drivers have, I got up and bought myself a helmet for my rides.
$49.90 at Fairprice Xtra, decent enough...was initially intending to get something better but then I figured "wahlau I'm really not gonna wear this often loh" so I got a cheap one instead.
The added "protection" meant that I could stick to the road, resulting in a 6km/h speed up from my previous pavement runs. Granted it's no road bike speeds, after all you buy a landrover you can't expect it to drive like a ferrari, but still I thought it was good enough for me. I was kinda reluctant to cycle this morning cause I wanted to test run the new vibrams, but then I forced myself to pick up the bike since I haven't managed to take it out for awhile now.

Morning cycles aren't as fulfilling as morning runs if you ask me...it's exercise, but you don't get to soak in as much of your surroundings as you go along, even with music during your runs, you notice the things around you, but when you're cycling, there's no music, and all u see is streetlamp-junction-streetlamp-junction, so there's really no time to glance and appreciate much.

Today's ride was pretty decent though, mornings sure are cold, but manageable. Hopefully I'll get to test run the Vibrams tomorrow morning.
