So when I finally found time to bring Xinn out to JB, it was sth I was really looking forward to =)
See how happy she is? =XAnyway the first place we stopped over was to this small coffeeshop that apparently serves up really dope Mee Hoon Kuey
AL and Sharon were raving to us about how the pork meat was really dope and didn't have that smell you'd get from lower grade meats, so we figured it was something worth trying =)
For RM4, you get quite a large portion, that came wit ha decent broth that wasn't too strong and pretty home-made ish kinda. The vegetables were different too, the leaves were more like the sweet potato leaves you'd get, rough and papery. Not something you'd see a lot of people eating, but I thought it was really odd of them to include it into the soup, yet I think in a sense it made the dish all that more home-cook-like. =)
Another thing brought to the table was this Rojak from the scooter across the street. Looks rather normal right? The sauce that comes with this is sticky, like Caramel!!!!!!!So imagine a very local-flavored caramel-like substance smearing your entire rojak, not bah man!
The bowl was pretty good, and I was honestly interested in seconds, but we had other stuff to eat so we gave it a pass.Later on while the girls Sharon and Xinn went ahead for Medi Pedi, the guys walked around aimlessly trying to kill time. Colin probably had the most fruitful half an hour that day, browsing through and buying a total of 6 pairs of underwear while AL and I followed him around like a threesome gay bunch.
We later did manage to find a Hong Kong cafe to settle down while the girls did their girly things
There weren't much variaty to begin with, no raddish cake...sigh, so we settled for some Cheese thingy which turned out to be fishcake.
Not exactly what I was hoping to eat, quite the turn off for me for that day.
The second turn off came in the form of a massage. While the last time one was good, the other outlet, for some reason, was really a no-holds-bar kinda massage, it felt more like being thrown into a meat grinder and praying that you make it out alive, after which they award you with a medal for being able to tahan the whole thingI think Xinn still has a sore back after that day. =\
Maybe next time instead of trying to act "man", I should've asked the fella to treat me more like a human being and not Mee Hoon Kuey flour.
Of course, one of the main reasons why we were there in the first place was because of this!
One visit was not enough, and thus this trip was to go down and try the other stuff AL's brother Gary had to offer!I won't even talk, I'll just post pictures.

Shiok right?!?!?! I thought everything was nice, even the new dessert AL's brother had come up with, though apparently the sauce wasn't meant to be mixed with the cake I think? In that case I'd rather it not be there cause most ppl will just whack the sauce tgt with the cake, eating something that's prolly not what the chef had in mind in terms of taste.
As usual, the highlight of that evening came out after our meals. Apparently they had their oven sent for repairs so they had to work with a different one for the moment, it didn't give the same overall crunchiness as we'd get from the other oven, but I guess it's just a temporary think, looking forward to it again once the oven's fixed!
You see that? YOU SEE THAT? That alone made the entire trip worth it =)
After dinner, AL's brother suggested we head up to try out the archery range on the 3rd floor. We figured it was a good way to rest and relax, wind down after a good meal at the restaurant.
And while the bunch of us never really had any experience shooting with bows and arrows, guess who came prepared to look like he was going to hunt dear?Anyway Wednesday was great, let's hope we can get Jan, Jill, and Mel and San again for the next round during a weekend =)
