Dinner at Uluru, Duxton

I honestly have NEVER heard of this place before until Colin, Jan, and Jill suggested to eat at a friend's restaurant outlet over there.

Sorry if I'm a "sua ku Singaporean" in this aspect...lol! But apparently when Colin mentioned the word "Hype Food" and Jan smiled at the thought of eating there, come on la...how to reject the idea of going?!?!?!?! =)
Located at an alley in Duxton, this place apparently serves up really good decent food, but with Edwin, the head chef knowing Jan and the rest, special attention was made to the food orders at the table. lol.
The interior and exterior of the restaurant was decent, low-lit to give that intimate setting. Not many people hang around on weekends like this, apparently it's more hype during the weekdays.
The first thing that made it to the table was the dippings for the bread to come. Olive Oil, Balsamic Vinegar, and some green mush of cheese, oil, garlic etc which tasted incredible!
The bread came freshly baked from the oven...crisp on the outside and soft on the inside like all freshly baked bread should be. =)

Although they serve a really nice menu of items here, Edwin the head chef who studied in Shatec and then in Swiss would normally custom Jan's orders and asked them a simple question, "Steak? Pasta? or Fish?", after which he'll just whip up his own custom idea of whatever he sees fit for that evening for Jan and the rest of us.
The first thing to arrive to the table was Jill's Cod fish, which came served with loads of vegetables just the way she likes it.
Jan's pasta came served with a whole load of prawns, with the entire pasta drenched in lobster bisque reduction....WOOOOOT!
Colin and I had Wagyu, grade 8, which came with french beans and mash. I had initially thought the mash had some really fragrant butter mixed into it...it was soft, smooth and very rich in flavor.

I later found out it had been mixed with Truffle Oil...OMG!
The last thing to hit the table was dessert, something Edwin had come up with. Looking at the plate you can tell it was really well thought out! Different sauces separated, with fruits, sprinkling of some sort of seasoning at one corner that had a light peppery feel to it.

You see the "Crystals" on top of the muffin which looks like minced garlic???

Their actually similar to those candy crackle pops which start to burst and crackle and fizz in your mouth!!! Made in-house specifically for this dish, it's quite complex a procedure but apparently using the outside mass-manufactured stuff wouldn't work so Edwin made his own.
Across our table, a group of customers had ordered the 1KG burger challenge, that was seriously...omg!

Made with four eggs, beef, 2 tomatos...8 bacon strips...cheese etc etc etc...this thing is HUGE!
Apparently, finish it in 30 mins and you walk away without paying...only 5 people had done it, including a boy...yes...BOY...who apparently was about my size...massive eh?

Dinner there was great, the price would have been incredibly expensive if it weren't for Edwin giving us a massive discount.

Still, it looks like some place I'd love to go try again, worth the pleasure. =)
