Since we were at Starbucks, we started surfing around and decided to go to the Kway Guan Huat Popiah stall at Joo Chiat road, which was one of the places we haven't really gone to have food before even though it had quite a few hot spots for nice things to eat.
I actually got this information of Leslie Tay's blog and since it looked like something worth try, we went ahead. I've had DIY popiah at local food stalls and restaurants before, but never with Xinn, so I figured it'd be something worth having together =)
For $16, you get a claypot full of almost-rained stewed turnips so you need not drain them really hard later on upon putting them on ur popiah, u also get half a hard boiled egg, chopped up, some battered crisps, lettuce, sprouts, the sweet sauce, chilli and garlic =)They give around 6 pieces of popiah skin for you to wrap your popiah, but you can request for more which comes free, which was quite good especially if you're not the type who stuffs their popiah with too much turnips.
Being family-run and everything, they had their children walking around the place, enjoying dinner and watching shows from their mini DVD player. One of their youngest member made his way around the stall with his container of instant coffee powder and entertained himself, lol I thought he was quite careful so I took a few shots =)
After dinner though, we headed down to Changi General Hospital to check on Colin, who has been there for up to a week already due to his spine injury, and since he was damn sick of hospital crap, we, along wth Mel and San, snuck out of CGH to Simpang for supper. =)

He's still on his walking stick, but at least he isn't limping really bad like he did when Hans and I brought him in last Sunday. The Pratas were pretty ok but the Tissue Prata that Xinn had was quite icky, and made her feel a bit sickly, guess the store at the other end still served up better bread than the one we were having.Anyway since there were only 5 of us, we all squeezed in Mel's car and Xinn found this which I thought was quite smart and amusing at the same time. lol
Apparently overcrowding at HDB car parks has caused him a lot of trouble with authorities, and though it wasn't his fault cause he was a seasonaly holder, he'd been fined by the parking attendants before and thus, came up with this solution, which has helped him heaps ever since.Anyway supper was great, Colin was having too much atas hospital A-Ward menu food that they were getting too bored for his taste...local food solved that, which I guess made his day =)
To burn off the extra prata I had though, I ended up meeting Mel later on at 1:30am to drive down to West Coast Park for a jog...5 km of slow paced jogging for 40 mins, says online I've burned 311 cal, or the portion of a cheeseburger...pffft, feels more like I prolly burned away the curry sauce from my prata only. =\
