Pietrasanta

So on Sunday, after hanging at school rushing a bit on our class assignments, I headed down with Xinn to meet up with my family for dinner at this place called Piesantra, which apparently was at Portsdown road.
Do note that Saturday was our FIRST time hanging out at that part of portsdown road, where we chilled with Colin and gang at Colbar. It was coincidental and kinda amusing when my brother decided on this place for dinner. =)
Since we were early, Xinn and I chilled at Colbar for a bit, sharing a piece of brownie while we waited for our table to be ready.
The place overall was pretty cool, they served bread without butter, just a tomato puree similar to that of the blended toppings of a bruchetta.
The seafood soup Xinn and I shared was fantastic, wow it was so good!!! Xinn thought it was ok, maybe the thick slices of garlic were a turn off for her. =\
The vegetable soup on the other hand was pretty simple, rather hearty, not my kinda stew though. The grilled eggplants, zucchini and bell peppers were fantastic!!! I've always wanted to learn to do this, it's a simple dish that requires quite a big of olive oil though, maybe I'll test it out another day.
The cold platter my brothers ordered was really good, except for that whitish thing at the left, which kinda had the texture of a thinly sliced cured piece of squid...mushy and slimy...ack!
We wanted to try something different, so Xinn and I went for their raviolli which was stuffed with meat and sausages...it wasn't really good to be honest...maybe we should have gone for something simpler...like what Candy got...
Their pizza was really good too...the four cheeses and pepperoni were simple but tasty =)
Another item Xinn and I got was their Codfish, which I liked!
It came with a heap load of onions on top, sth Xinn would freak out from...heh....but the fish was really good, not fresh though mind u...it wasn't as fatty and soft like u'd get from fresh cod...rather, it was slightly chewy, but I thought, since it came with a tomato based sauce, the chewiness, coupled with the onions and olives, really added to the texture =D

The mashed potatos below were nice too, mixed with small chunks to add the bite, overall I thought the dish was pretty interesting =)
Anyway, the place was overall good, and not very pricey for a group of 7 of us, I think we hit around $300 plus in total...for 7 people..that's pretty good considering its "attas" stuff and the alternative was Black Angus, which might cost a bit more....

Pizza at around 20 plus...pasta at below 20...guess that's pretty decent right? Still...I think I'll leave that kinda pricing to Dad to settle...I'm cheap. lol
