Scouring for chow...

It's been awhile since I actually went around looking for new places to eat. Not that their new to everyone else, just places I never thought about going since I don't live around that area.

Today after closing the shop, Xinn and I headed down to Old Airport Road to check out the food there. The only two things I remembered about the place was their wonton noodles which I didnt really find too fancy about...and their char kway teow from "lau fu zi" which was pretty bad ass. =)
Anyway we stumbled upon the Citizoom fishball noodle stall which I thought only existed in Geylang as seen in Leslie Tay's blog! How to resist right? I had always wanted to give it a try but never found myself going down to have it. I made a wrong order though and got mee tai mak instead of the suggested fish noodles....pffft. Still Xinn thought the fishballs were delicious and the fish that came along with it brought back nostalgic memories of her Grandma making fish bites tasting pretty much the same. I just thought the whole thing was great and might actually go down there again next time just for it!
Another item which I haven't had for awhile was the Lau Fu Zhi char kway teow...now I'm not a big fan of the hype, and wouldn't mind eating at any other stall, but I figured since I was there I might as well...plus I thought the fact that the owner cooked every plate individually meant that he didn't treat his food like some batch-production and I kinda respect that. =)
The last item isn't particularly special, the initial stay stall I inteded to go was out of satay so I randomly picked one I walked pass. So the meat was pretty soso but I was glad the amount of pineapple they put into the peanut sauce was sufficient enough to make anyone melt...YUMS!

Chang? When coming back? Time to get used to local food again after months in Vietnam! =)
