Viral Marketing

Heard of it?

Neither have I, but most of you who do study business and marketing will probably have.

And recently in the States, JJ Abrams, the co-creator of the TV series LOST did such a thing.

Before the movie Transformers(which we all know will be a big hit, thus, drew a massive crowd to watch the movie), a trailer was shown. No news about it, no name to the movie...just a short 1:50 min trailer which started out as an amateur cameraman at a party, then later moves on to a mysterious monster which tears up the City.

You can't see anything, just stuff blowing up, and the statue of liberty's head being flung across the road.

The trailer ends with the movie release date but nothing about the movie.

For two whole weeks, ppl had no idea what they were supposed to search online when trying to look for information on the movie. And the moment the trailer comes on before every Transformer movie, ppl start taking out camera phones to film the trailer and putting them on YouTube.

For 2 whole weeks, that was all it took to get ppl extremely curious about this movie which had no name.

I just checked Apple.com/trailers and found that they have finally released THAT trailer online.

No news on what it's about yet though...we're all still in the dark.

But anyway, what I'm saying is this method of selling a product sometimes really work, especially if you hit it at the right crowd at the right time.

click HERE to go straight to the trailer site to check it out for yourself.

Anyway all these words are probably boring you so I'll stop.

Lol.

I'll do my usual posts come Sunday evening IF time permits.

Cheerios people. =)
